Logan's Experience at Mountainside Music Academy

Can you describe your journey and experience working here so far?

I started working for Mountainside Music Academy in the Spring of 2022, and I have enjoyed all the teaching opportunities provided through the company. The students that I meet and work with are driven and excited to be learning music. I have been teaching a substantial studio of Violin, Viola, and Cello students year-round for about 2 years now.

What would you say to someone considering a job with our company?

If you are looking for a teaching position that is flexible and reliable, Mountainside is sure to help you establish yourself as a private instructor. Their networking and distribution of students is fair and efficient, and they never expect you to take on more than you can handle to continue teaching with them. As a current college student, my schedule is incredibly busy, and they provide me with great flexibility in scheduling. They also provide trial lessons with students, so you can test the waters by working with a student to make sure that you both are right for each other before committing.

What aspects of our company do you find most appealing or unique?

I think that it is awesome that Mountainside provides at-home lessons for students. Students get to take lessons out of the comfort of their own homes, so they already feel more secure and it doesn't put the pressure on families to commute to weekly lessons. I have enjoyed getting to know different parts of Boulder/Arvada/Erie/Lousiville areas when traveling to my student's homes.

What do you appreciate most about the students you work with?

Not only have I enjoyed working with my students on musical projects, but I have also enjoyed getting to know them as people. They all have interesting lives, both in and outside of music, and I am glad to be helping them cultivate a passion of theirs. I click well and value the good relationships I have developed with each of my students and their families.

Can you share a specific achievement that you are proud to have been a part of?

I was appointed to organize the Winter 2023 Mountainside recital, and it was an awesome experience. I was so proud of my kiddos who performed solo, and even prouder that they were part of an event that facilitated so many young musicians making music for each other. It was such a wonderful couple of hours, and I was in awe of seeing the progress the Mountainside teachers had made with their students. Everyone was so supportive and the event went so smoothly. It is a memory I will cherish and I am grateful that I could help facilitate.

How would you describe the leadership/management style within the company?

Mountainside has a professional and organized management team. They are very good about timely replies and are there to support you if you have any questions about students, scheduling, website updates, etc.

Is there anything else you'd like to add or share about your experience with our company?

I am incredibly grateful to be on staff with Mountainside. It has helped facilitate real-world teaching experiences for me while I am pursuing my music education and music performance degrees.
